Her Brother’s Shoes

May 2, 2013
Well, it’s cold and snowy again.  I needed to take my 6-month-old to Tiny Twisters, her (almost) 2-year-old brother’s gymnastics class.  She outgrew her shoes recently and she has some beautiful new summer sandles just waiting to be worn.  That wouldn’t be happening today, so I brok out her brother’s old shoes.
Clearly we are not ones to stick to stereotypic gender roles – her brother was heading to gymnastics after all – but I felt these shoes could use a little something to make them feel new and special for her.

I thought about adding some ribbon or bows, which could be cute with the skulls.  However I was a little impatient and wasn’t quite equipped to take it that far.  So what did I do?
Broke out some permanent markers!

The front of the toes were a little scuffed from crawling, so I colored those pink. I then added some pink to a few of the music notes.

It didn’t look complete, so I added some yellow to the edge of the front piece and some of the lightning bolts.

And voila! New shoes for a baby girl in a few minutes!

    1. Thank you! Can I tell you I had to check your blog to see if you were Mormon, because the only other person I know who uses that phrase is my old roommate who was Mormon. I was right! 😉 I think it is such a cute phrase!

  1. What a great way to update boy shoes for a little girl! I’m a girl and I love skulls so I would rock an adult version of these in a hot minute! Thanks again for sharing at the Pinworthy Project Party!
