Have you seen all those cute yarn wreaths with the argyle pattern? I love them! I’ve been wanting to make one for a while, but I typically redecorate my grapevine wreath each season. Finally, I decided I had to make one with an adorable heart argyle pattern for Valentine’s Day!
Not even gonna lie, I’m a little proud of the fact that I got a Valentine’s Day project done before February! Usually, the earliest I can seem to get a project done is the week of the holiday, so this is impressive!
I kept brainstorming for a while about how I was going to pull this together… Do I get a styrofoam wreath? How much yarn do I need to wrap the styrofoam completely? What colors should I use? How about a bow?
Finally, I had all the perfect materials! (I should also mention this all cost me about $4, but I’m going to say $3 since I could have made it happen with only a scrap piece of yarn instead of the whole thing!)
Did you see what I used for the wreath??? I found a pool noodle tucked away in the out if season stuff at Menards! Yellow $1.29 instead if the flotation wreath form at Walmart for $8!!! I also was lucky enough to find it in pink, so no more worrying about wrapping the whole thing in yarn!
All I did was use a couple pieces of pink Duck Tape (Christmas present from my 2yo) and it stayed together great!
I made a template and started cutting my felt hearts. I got nine hearts out of a half piece of felt.
I was a little fussy making sure I had the right scale – not too small but I didn’t want them to wrap too much so they didn’t look like hearts.
I crisscrossed the yarn around the wreath and secured the pieces I. The back with more pink Duck Tape. Since the hearts fell off from where I placed them while winding the yarn around, I tucked them into the yarn Xs.
I used the remaining half of felt to make my bow. All I did was bunch it together I. He center and staple. Then I added a scrap piece around the center, stapled it together in the back and used more tape to secure.
That was all there was to it! It literally took me about ten minutes start to finish and I think it’s the cutest thing.
I’m kind of in love with putting wreaths together. It’s usually one of my only decorations. Are you a wreath person? What’s your go-to decoration for most holidays?
