Quick and Easy Kentucky Derby Hat Cookies

Adorable and easy Kentucky Derby Hat Cookies. Perfect for your Kentucky Derby party, or any reason to have a special treat. These are also the perfect treat for a sweet little tea party or girls day.

I love a good theme!

I also love a quick and easy treat to bring to a party with a theme.

We put together these cookies in no time for out Hats and Horses party this weekend for the Kentucky Derby.

These cookies are so adorable, they would also be perfect for a little girl’s tea party! The kids love to make them too!

Quick and Easy Kentucky Derby Hat cookies

Along with a healthy Blueberry Pecan Salad, the kiddos and I decided to make a cute treat for our Derby party this weekend.

Our plan was to put together something cute, without baking, that didn’t take long, and easy enough the kids could help.

We bought all sorts of ingredients to see how things turned out…

…and we came up with a great one! I love the finished product! Aren’t these Kentucky Derby hat cookies perfect for a derby party or tea party?

Quick and easy hat cookies - perfect for kids to make!

With a fudge stripes cookie for the bottom, Nilla wafer for the top, some frosting, sprinkless, and a pull and peel licorice bow – you have one awesome little hat cookie!

Kentucky Derby Hat Cookies

Ingredients

  • Fudge Stripe Cookies
  • Nilla Wafers
  • Vanilla Frosting
  • Pull and Peel Licorice
  • Colored Sprinkles

Directions

  1. First spread a small dollop of frosting on the bottom of the Nilla Wafer.
  2. Put it on a little thick so that it oozes around the edges when pressed on top of the Fudge Stripe Cookie
  3. Make a bow out of a piece of the Pull and Peel licorice. It takes some practice to get it to stick together!
  4. Press the bow into the frosting and cover the remainder of frosting with matching colored sprinkles.
  5. Enjoy your Kentucky Derby Hat Cookies!

I have lived through a few times of my husband quitting his job or being laid off, or no work due to injury. Praying for your sanity!

I’m so glad you stopped by and your support means so much! Just as I was about to the end of my rope with my husband he got a job and starts Monday – thank goodness!

    1. I was thinking the same! I haven’t paid much attention to the derby before, but this party will be such a fun excuse to see people and wear a fun hat!

    1. Thank you! I usually don’t pay much attention to it but getting the chance to spend time with friends and finding some little ones for our kiddos to play with will be so fun!!

    1. So easy! We bought a can of frosting, put it on the smaller cookie, folded up a licorice bow, and put sprinkles over the whole thing. That’s all there is to it!
