Debbie’s Mom Life
Tell us about your family
I am a laid back mom of an active toddler boy and a baby on the way! Debbie actually just had her second baby in February! Congrats on your new addition!
I live in New Hampshire with my husband and son, and enjoy being outdoors on walks with my family, reading, yoga and traveling whenever possible.
As a mom, what is the best part of your day?
One of the best parts of my day as a stay at home mom is waking up with my son and enjoying a few moments of calm cuddles before we hit the ground running.
3 Words that describe your parenting style?
Laidback, thankful, happy!
How do you prioritize family-time and me-time?
As a mom, I struggle with this one. I tend to always put family time first, but have been working this past year to stay home alone or go out on my own when my husband takes my son to do an activity. I used to join them, in fear of missing out on precious moments, but am learning that they need time to bond too, and I feel better after doing something on my own!
What is your favorite family activity?
We love swimming! In the summer we go to a local pond almost daily and in the winter we go to the pool, we always have a great time!
What advice would you give new moms?
Don’t strive for perfection, strive for happiness. Time goes by quickly and it’s important to enjoy the little everyday moments, however simple they may seem.
Do you have a “Mom Hack” you can’t live without?
One of my favorite Mom Hack’s is actually the Library. If ever I feel stir crazy at home, we pack up and head to the library where my son is able to play with puzzles and toys, and I can read a book nearby. I also try to take advantage of their programs: storytimes, science experiments and crafts–fun activities that I don’t have to come up with at home or clean up after!
What is your best Mom money-saving tip?
I tend to shop consignment for my son–they grow so quickly and I have been able to buy boutique quality clothing and shoes for him by shopping at consignment stores and sales!
Do you have any tips for staying on top of household chores?
I load the dishwasher every night before bed, no matter how tired I am. Having clear counters and an empty sink is a great way to start my morning.
Do you make a point to stay healthy and fit? If so, how do you fit it into your busy lifestyle?
We try to encourage a healthy lifestyle in our house, I currently go to a gym to take fitness classes where my son is able to happily play in the nursery. Sometimes it seems like too much to get him ready and to the gym, so on those days we go on stroller walks which is both free and fun for us both!
Family Travel: What is your favorite spot or family travel memory?
We currently spend a fair amount of time in the Northern New Hampshire mountains. We enjoy the calm atmosphere and the emphasis on outdoor activities. I met my husband when we were both living in that area, so we were lucky to find an old condo last spring that we were challenged with renovating and now renting out to other families!
Do you have a can’t-live-without Mom/family products to share?
I wouldn’t have survived the first few years with my son without our lillebaby carrier–I wore him everywhere! I’m looking forward to babywearing again with this next baby, and have purchased a WildBird ring sling to try. I love the idea of keeping my babies close–but also being hands free.

Oh goodness this post brought back memories! I used to live near there when my Girlie was little. I’d drive over the bridge by those tugboats on my way to work in the morning.
Oh that is so fun! It looks beautiful!
