Tell us about your family
We are a family of 3 and still considering adding a second child. We like to be outside a lot and treasure laughter & a playful attitude.
As a mom, what is the best part of your day?
It may not be the general consensus with moms but I love bedtime. We co-sleep and laying down quietly with my son after a long day is such a great time to decompress and enjoy some one on one time. We always read together at bed time and I wait for him to fall asleep before exiting the room and join him when my bedtime comes around. It really is the time we have to enjoy each other’s company without distractions.
3 Words that describe your parenting style?
Laid-back, semi-crunchy & present.
What is a parenting rule you never break?
I don’t know if it’s a rule but as I said above I take bedtime seriously and almost never deviate from our bedtime schedule.
What is a parenting rule you always break?
Chocolate and screen time!!!
How do you prioritize family-time and me-time?
This one is something I’m constantly struggling with, I have moments where I can balance both but sometimes doing it all gets the best of me and I need to center myself and drop all the plates and get back to what’s important.
What is your go-to, easy weeknight meal?
My son is the pickiest of eaters, so every night it’s easy meals – he loves pasta with butter! I buy the veggie kind and call it a day!
What is your favorite family activity?
We love going to the beach!
What advice would you give new moms?
Ask and accept help! For the longest time I didn’t accept when people offered to help and it got overwhelming! If someone offers say yes!! ALWAYS. If someone doesn’t offer, ask for help, sometimes people don’t know you’re struggling and in need of help.
Do you have a can’t-live-without Mom/family products to share?
Now that my son is older I don’t need much to help out but when he was younger, definitely my ergo baby carrier! I couldn’t have survived motherhood without it. Another thing that I still use is a sound machine when we sleep, I actually use an app on an older phone of mine and have been using for at least 4 years.

A big thank you for Ellen for sharing all about her life as a mom! I couldn’t agree more with her advice for new moms. Instead of a polite brush off, start saying yes to help. People genuinely want to do it, and all moms could use an extra set of hands!
