Week 2 of my No spend Month has gone great!
I’m learning so much about our spending, and it is really challenging me to make due with all that we have. I’ve had some times that were a little hard, I’ve made some amazing decisions, I’ve resisted temptations, and I’ve spent a little bit of money. How much did I spend this week? I made one trip to Aldi and am so proud of my restraint! We ran in for milk, bananas, and potatoes – and nothing else! $6 spent during week 2 of my no spend month. We saved a lot more than we spent and I’ve made some great steps this week. I listed a lot of things I have, new in the box and just sitting around, on Craigslist. My little guy got his first at-home haircut – if I could get that hang of this we would save a lot! He’s so darn cute, though, he can pull off a choppy home haircut!
When I wanted to spend money
- When we ran out of our go-to foods (bananas, avocados, lettuce, bread) – my anti-saver husband reminded me how much food we have in the freezer and pantry. We’ve done awesome with what we have since then!
- When I had some time to myself, I wanted to buys the kids clothes ($1.50 a piece) or cookbooks ($0.20 a piece) at the thrift store. This shows how naturally frugal I am, but I did resist even this little bit of extra spending this week.
- When my mom wanted to take a trip to Costco – I would have bought so much!
- Of course, this month is when my free Microsoft Office trial would have to run out… Luckily, I realized I had $300 in my DietBet account from past games, so I will use it on this and T25 because my awesome trainer and I have decided it will be a good transition from our 3 day a week sessions
I’m really loving this exercise in taking a look at our spending. It will get harder from here, but it has already given me a lot to think about and areas to focus on in the future! Could you do a no spend month? Even a loose one like I am doing?
