It is crazy how obsessed I am with the new addition to our kitchen!
When the kiddos asked to buy a Banana Keeper at the Tfee, I figured they just end up playing with it or putting small toys in it.
Who knew I’d fall in love with it and use it almost daily!?!
This thing is amazing!
We seem to have leftover banana halves all the time. The kiddos, at 2 and 3, will share bananas, eat half at a time, and usually have some leftover. I use half a banana in my overnight oats and I used to warm half a banana and eat with vanilla ice cream at night.
So, when the kiddos just had to have the Banana Keeper, I figured we’d at least have something to put them in in the fridge, but I never expected it to work miracles.
It totally shocked me, and I’m way too excited about it!
I used to send half bananas in my step-daughter’s school lunch and I tried keeping them fresh with some plastic covering the cut end with a rubber band. I tried using the peel to our advantage with a half-eaten banana and covered the end with it. I tried it all, and I usually found that the cut end looked disgusting and needed to be cut off.
Look at how beautiful it came out after 24 hours!
It keeps the peel yellow, the banana white, and the end doesn’t end up all black and slimy. After 12 hours, which seems to be our normal time for keeping them around, they come out perfect. After a full 24 hours, the broken end was just finally starting to darken. I’m so impressed! I may even go back and grab one for my husband’s lunchbox, which immediately blackens and bruises bananas.
If you find yourself laughing at the Banana Keeper at the Dollar Tree, pick it up and you’ll love it!!
Do you have half-eaten bananas you figure out how to keep? What trick have you tried?
That is so cool! If we didn’t gobble down bananas like they were going out of style in this house, I would totally get one. My favorite ‘most amazing thing you never knew you needed’ item is our apple core-er. LOVE it to death. We have two because I have been known to throw a fit when we had one and it was dirty in the sink. LOL Thanks for sharing!

We gobble them down too! I grab two bunches a week and we always seem to run out!
I bought an apple core-er, but I haven’t been able to find it since. 😛 I’m going to find that and get on using it! Thanks!
