One of my goals this year was to get to a comfortable size so I’d feel good in my bridesmaid dress for a good friend’s wedding.
Well, the wedding was last weekend and, let me tell you, I had an amazing time!
The dresses, however, were such a crazy story!
We were fitted for our dresses back in January, I think. We picked out a strapless dress with flowing chiffon. It felt great and secure around the chest and was extremely forgiving since the rest of the dress was so flowy.
When they measured me for the dress they recommended that I order a size 16. I was very confident that I would not be a 16 by the time the wedding came around. Also, I didn’t feel like the size 10 we tried on was that far of a stretch. Well, since they make you feel awful for ordering a smaller size, I went ahead and ordered a size 14.
The dress arrived almost two months ago and it was enormous!!! I could have fit another person in there!
Luckily (and unfortunately) the bride had an extra dress since her sister-in-law was no longer going to be in the wedding. The dress was a size 8, but I nervously gave it a try at the bachelorette party…
It was a super tight squeeze, but it looked like I could make it happen in two weeks, so I passed my size 14 to another bridesmaid with a huge dress. So, it had to happen! And I had two weeks to make sure it did!
Lemon, Cucumber, Mint Detox Water
One of the easiest things I did was whip up a pitcher of water with sliced lemon, cucumber, and some mint leaves. The taste was not my favorite, but there is nothing bad about it and it is refreshing. Knowing that pitcher was in the fridge, combined with the fact that I gulped since I didn’t love the taste and my kids left it alone because they didn’t like it either, helped me to drink more in a day that I normally would.
I couldn’t believe what a big difference that made! I wasn’t even being strict with my eating, just keeping it healthier. I definitely will be doing that again!
3 Day Military Diet
The craziest change I made was giving the 3 Day Military Diet a try. Have you seen it on Pinterest? With two weeks and a dress size to go, I thought it was worth a shot.
It was strict, and it makes no sense to me, but it wasn’t that difficult and I lost 11lbs after the three days. Keep in mind that it was immediately after the bachelorette party and shower with party food, alcohol, and 2am pizza. I also did a not-so-strict version and used it as a guide the next week.
In case you’re interested, here are some of my meals for the three days.
Sargento Ultrathin
I was so thrilled to be selected by Influenster to try out Sargento Ultrathin cheese slices. I’m a cheese lover, but I tend to avoid it when I’m trying hard to watch my calories.
These slices are super thin, so I can add then to anything and don’t have to feel guilty!
Protein Milkshake Bar
I was also lucky enough to review Protein Milkshake Bar’s awesome Chocolate Caramel protein powder, which helped a TON to curb my cravings while working to fit into that dress. It is so delicious! I really can’t wait to try Chocolate Mousse and Rocky Road!
So…How Did the Dress Fit?
Like a glove!
I felt awesome! It zipped right up, it was comfortable the entire day and night, and it looked good. The nice ladies who did the hem told me a size up and I would have needed it taken in. Also, it fit beautifully without back cleave or armpit pudge.
Major Non-Scale Victory!!
I wish I has a picture, but this is the best I can come up with. I’m the one to the left of the bride and groom.
I’ve had that lemon + mint + cucumber water and like you said, it isn’t bad but the taste is just off I think it’s the mint. It’s just so overpowering!
Those cheese slices on the other hand look bomb. Gonna give them a try soon 😀
Glad you had fun at the wedding 😀

I totally agree, the mint is not for me. The taste got better when I only used a couple leaves.
The cheese is so good! I love it!

The dress is so pretty, I’m so glad everything worked out! It must have been a whirl wind two weeks, but fabulous job in staying committed and achieving great results!

Thank you! It was crazy having only a couple weeks to see if I could squeeze in, but it was better than paying someone to take the other dress in. Win, win, win!
