The End of the BeFiT 30 Day Fat Burning Challenge and Giveaway

I’ve stuck with it for almost 30 days now!

If you remember when I started a month ago, I explained how much a I loved the BeFiT workouts. After week one, I explained how much I also liked the BeFiT nutrition products. I still love the BeFiT workouts, and I have been getting up early each morning to get them in. In this last week the 10-minute workouts are doubled and boy do I workout a sweat! They know what they’re doing and really work certain areas hard. Plus, even when two videos are scheduled, it’s still only 20 minutes. I love that!

Confession: My 2016 health and weight loss goals have been off to a slow start. If I’m being completely honest, I’ve continued to gain weight after the holidays…

After losing 60lbs after my second child, I have really struggled to keep the scale going down. In the past year, I’ve added a part-time job to full-time staying home with the kids and the pressure has really decreased the amount of focus I’ve placed on my health. I’m feeling pretty discouraged lately…

I’m really feeling energized with this BeFit 30-Day Challenge. The best part is that the tools for the workouts are completely free! BeFit has put together an amazing series of videos, along with a workout calendar to help keep you on track.

I started this morning with the Dynamic Strength workout. It was fantastic! I woke up early, wandered through the dark to my office and got in a short and sweet strength training workout. Next to the tools being free, my favorite part is that these workouts are quick and effective – most are between 10-15 minutes. Toward the end of the 30 days, we’ll start to double up the workouts, but they still don’t take a huge chuck of time. Love that!

As a Sweat Pink Ambassador, I also got the chance to try out some of the great BeFit Nutritional Products. We have Chocolate Whey Protein, a PreWorkout, and Burn – a supplement to boost fat loss. I haven’t tried them yet, but I will keep you posted as I update you about my progress during the 30 days. For now, how about I open up the giveaway and give you a chance to win some for yourself!?

Why Hemp Hearts Should be in YOUR Recipes! {Manitoba Hearts Review}

If you’ve followed me on Instagram or ever come across one of my salad pictures, you may have noticed they always contain the same go-to toppings.  The first is toasted flax seeds and the second is Hemp Hearts.  I just don’t make a salad without them!

I tried Hemp Hearts on a whim about six months ago.  I had some money to spend at the Kiwi Store online and decided to give Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts a whirl.  Such a great decision!

They are delicious and nutty and I’m having so much fun experimenting with them.  My go-to is salads, but I’ve also made a couple other treats with them.

I love the nutty bit of crunch they added to my Chocolate Caramel Protein Bites.

I also had too much fun making a snack to satisfy my sweet tooth with dates, a tiny bit of peanut butter, half a banana slice and as many hemp hearts as I could get to stick!  Yum!

Now, my husband has been working 7 days a week lately, which means this Momma has also been working 7 days a week (but, really, what’s the difference…), or you would be seeing all sorts of help heart concoctions!

Wednesday night our meal plan is for a Tomato Basil Soup from Frontier Soups and I can’t wait to add some hemp hearts to that – delicious! Also, I was just kicking myself for not taking the time to try some hemp heart chicken nuggets the other night while I was cooking up more than two chickens!

Luckily, while cruising the Manitoba Harvest website I found that I am not the first genius to come up with these ideas and you can find some great recipes for soups, entrees, and more!

Biggest Loser Half without training, #fffchallenge, and WIN Giveaway!

Before Sunday I had never run more than a 5K… I ran my first 5K last year for the Lupus Foundation of Minnesota, followed by Run or Dye and my second Lupus run. Running on my own I still never even hit 4 miles.

So, why then, did I think I could all of a sudden do a half marathon without one but of training???

When I won the trip to the Biggest Loser Finale from Planet Fitness they offered the entire audience free race eateries for any Biggest Loser Run/Walk.

After a lot of back and forth, I decided to go for the half marathon. Although, after a busy summer with very little running, I realized I would never have a long enough block of time free to train for a half marathon.

I almost considered backing out after not running as much as I had hoped and not planning the trip early enough, but it finally realized that I would regret it.

I kept telling myself, “it’s called the run/walk. You can walk…”

I drove the hour and a half drive out for packet pick up. I loved hearing Bobby Saleem, last year’s runner up, spill all the dirt about the show. Well, he didn’t spill too much, but he was pretty candid and so funny! I was also completely inspired by Jackie Evans who kept talking about her struggle to teach her kids about health and fitness. It really hit home and made me think about my why (a Bobby phrase). I was so happy to be there and know that stealing away for a weekend was for a great reason.

I went back bright and early the next morning, all alone, for my first ever half marathon.

“You can walk, you can walk…”

I started out running when we took off and felt great. I was exstatic at the 4 mile mark because I was keeping up my goal pace and I just passed my longest run ever. I couldn’t believe it when I hit the six mile mark and was still running. I felt like I could go all day!

...and then mile 7 hit. The bathrooms were few and far between so I started to walk more and my legs started getting stiffer and more tired. I walked the rest of the race.

I still finished in a time I was happy with and was SO happy just to finish! The greatest part was when Bobby was announcing and cheering on the runner and looked right at me and said, “great job, Kristin!”

How cool is that!?!

I was out of town and alone for my first half, and Bobby cheering me by name was just what I needed! He is such a great and genuine guy!

It was such a fantastic experience and I’m so glad I did it!

I was sore that day and thought I’d be incredibly sore the next day, but I felt pretty good. I did take the day off from trying to get my Fall Fitness Challenge activity in, but the day before more than made up for it! I also stuck to my warm lemon water each morning without forgetting. I even finally stopped talking about meal prep and spent the day cooking and making up some delicious meals to have on hand when I need them. I made fish, brown rice, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and mushrooms – so good!
