Ugh… That time when the kids are in bed, you can finally sit in peace (hopefully), and all you want to do is relax and enjoy before you have to hit the hay and be prepared to do it all tomorrow… and then…
The Nighttime Snack Monster Attacks!
This is a daily struggle for me. I rock my entire day, and all of my weight loss goals take a huge hit at the end of the night.
So, I’m being proactive about it!
In those early morning hours when my motivation is the highest, I spent some time writing down some things that will hopefully remind me why I don’t really want those snacks.
My plan is to share one each night when I need it the most. So if you need a little extra reminder like I do, follow me on Facebook and Instagram for some nightly motivation or tips. Also, if you want to be an accountability partner, yell at me if I miss a night!
10 Things to Tell Yourself When the Nighttime Snack Monster Attacks
Remember Your WHY
Will this help you reach your goals?
A better life it worth it!
Think about it…
Don’t take a step back after all your hard work
Avoid the guilt that will come later
Love yourself
Wait 20 minutes
It takes time, but it takes more time if you set yourself back
It won’t feel so good when you’re done
It means more to you than the snack
You want this!!!
Reflect on how far you’ve come
You have to change to see change
It is so obvious this is my biggest struggle! Check out Nighttime Motivation: 5 Tips for Sticking to Your Goals that I posted last week!
I’m aiming to post around 9pm EST on Facebook and Instagram. Let me know if you’re following and we can help keep each other on track!
These are great tips and reminders. One of the most effective ones for me (surprisingly) is waiting it out. It does work, and usually the cravings go way in even less than 20 minutes. You really have to be intentional and rational about this.

My husband is the biggest snacker and it always makes me want to snack. Lately I’ve been drinking tea instead of snacking and it definitely helps.

It’s so hard! I’m not a tea drinker but I do have some luck with almond milk. It’s the slowing down and sipping.
Two things that help me every time are chewing xylitol gum and drinking dark cherry sparkling water (no sugar like Klarblums or Schweppes) The bubbles make me feel full! If I want to snack I keep my hands busy writing or playing deck of cards. I also look at my motivational vision boards with lots of quotes. (There’s a vision board Ap I use on my phone) If that doesn’t work i have to get tough with myself and I imagine something in my mind’s eye really stomach turning so it turns off my appetite. You have to get creative here for something most people find yucky. For example one thing that automatically makes my appetite shut down immediately is recalling when I found a hair in my food at a restaurant this one time. Ew! It’s not fun but it is highly effective, and the end result is the weight will come off much easier.
Such great tips!! Thank you so much for sharing, Lauren! I’m going to use all of them.
You’re very welcome thank you for your website/suggestions too! Another thing I forgot is I drink iced green tea unsweetened. It really helps with weight loss and oddly enough it relaxes and energizes me at the same time. The name of the Ap is called subliminal vision board on i phone-it really works and it’s fun.
