Jamie’s Mom Life
Tell us about your family:
My hubby and I have been married 12 years this August, and we have two kiddos: Tatum (4.5 years) and Wyatt (2 years) – I worked full time until Wyatt was born and then I became a stay at home mom for the first time. It’s been a difficult adjustment, but we’re getting through it a day at a time. We also have a dog, Biscuit, and a cat, Checkers!
As a mom, what is the best part of your day?
I really enjoy the mornings first thing after they wake up. Even though I usually am tired because I stay up WAY too late, they’re always happiest after a good night’s sleep and they’re super fun and snuggly!

3 Words that describe your parenting style?
Go With Flow – I try to be a relaxed parent, but at the same time I don’t want to be one of those parents who has kids every other parent despises because they’re out of control. If we need discipline, we get discipline, but I try my best to “Go With the Flow” and try to adjust to what it seems like my kids need from me at the moment.
What is a parenting rule you never break?
Schedule. We don’t mess with nap times around here, that’s a no go. 😉
What is a parenting rule you always break?
No means no. My hubby and I are both suckers when it comes to our kids. My hubs is worse than me, and I try to stay firm/strong, but sometimes I just give in because it’s easier than fighting the battle.
How do you prioritize family-time and me-time?
Family time comes first, but I do make time to get out alone each week and do some things I want to do… like go to the bathroom by myself, wander the aisles of Target or Home Goods, or just sit on the back porch and soak up some sun and quiet. I am a firm believer in the “if you can’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of them” approach!
What is your go-to, easy weeknight meal?
Slow cooker shredded chicken – I can make tostadas, enchiladas, tacos… Three ingredients, pile it in, and forget about it for 3-4 hours. My kitchen hint is if you have a stand mixer I just toss the chicken breast right into it and turn it on instead of trying to shred it with forks. Works like a charm!
What is your favorite family activity?
We really love being outside, so I’d say going to the park or the nature preserve. We also love “junking” at the flea markets, but I wouldn’t say that’s one of my kids’ favorites. 😉
What advice would you give new moms?
Relax. Easy kids come from low key parents. Find your tribe and treat them the way you want to be treated. When they say it takes a village, they’re not joking. I couldn’t have made it this far with most of my sanity intact without my mom friends.
Do you have a “Mom Hack” you can’t live without?
Eco-88 stain remover. Find it on Amazon. Best $20 you’ll EVER spend if you have kids or pets or even if you don’t. I don’t know what’s in that stuff, and I don’t care. It’s THAT good.
How do you balance work and home life?
Easy! I don’t work! 😉

Do you have any tips for staying on top of household chores?
I’m a planner, so I generally pick one or two things per day and write them down in my planner at the beginning of the week on the days I want to accomplish them.
