Describe your background as it relates to health, fitness, weight loss, etc.
I am a certified holistic health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City. I am a 230 hour certified yoga teacher. I am also certified in Yoga Calm which specifically applies to kids 5-18. I have special certifications in gut health, mindfulness and overall health and wellness. I am passionate about this field and read everything I can get my hands on. I have been studying overall well-being for a long time.
I think doing something you love and changing your workout regimen is key.
When do you typically fit in your physical fitness?
I try to workout in the mornings. I really enjoy many types of exercise. I incorporate strength training, high intensity cardio, yoga, tennis, running, hiking and paddle boarding in the summer. I think doing something you love and changing your workout regimen is key.
How do you make healthy eating a priority?
It is a huge priority in our home. I shop organic and I try very hard to only buy whole non-processed foods. I keep our meals simple. I like to grow vegetables in the summer and we belong to a CSA which is fabulous!
We talk a lot about what it means to be healthy in mind and body.
How do you get your kids involved in a healthy lifestyle?
We talk a lot about what it means to be healthy in mind and body. We talk a lot about what a healthy food choice looks like and the importance of exercise. We try to do active outings together like biking, hiking, rock climbing etc…
What are your biggest struggles?
My kids still want some junk in the house and I don’t want to be so strict that they go crazy out of the house. Finding balance is key. I try to stick to a 90/10 rule. Healthy 90% of the time. I also love healthy food, but when life gets very busy, sometimes it is challenging to provide exactly what I would hope to if time permitted. Planning ahead is key.
