Along with a healthy Blueberry Pecan Salad, the kiddos and I decided to make a cute treat for our Derby party this weekend.
Our plan was to put together something cute, without baking, that didn’t take long, and easy enough the kids could help.
We bought all sorts of ingredients to see how things turned out…
…and we came up with a great one! I love the finished product! Aren’t these Kentucky Derby hat cookies perfect for a derby party or tea party?

With a fudge stripes cookie for the bottom, Nilla wafer for the top, some frosting, sprinkless, and a pull and peel licorice bow – you have one awesome little hat cookie!
Kentucky Derby Hat Cookies
Ingredients
- Fudge Stripe Cookies
- Nilla Wafers
- Vanilla Frosting
- Pull and Peel Licorice
- Colored Sprinkles
Directions
- First spread a small dollop of frosting on the bottom of the Nilla Wafer.
- Put it on a little thick so that it oozes around the edges when pressed on top of the Fudge Stripe Cookie

- Press the bow into the frosting and cover the remainder of frosting with matching colored sprinkles.

Oh thank you so much, MJ! Ever since I switched over to WP and stopped using blogger I completely lost touch with all the blogs I used to read daily. I’m so glad you stopped by and your support means so much! Just as I was about to the end of my rope with my husband he got a job and starts Monday – thank goodness!
I’m seriously so glad to hear from you, and I will make sure to remember to stop by every once in a while!

So easy! We bought a can of frosting, put it on the smaller cookie, folded up a licorice bow, and put sprinkles over the whole thing. That’s all there is to it!
Now that is just too cute. You are so creative. I would never thought of making hat cookies. We are hosting parties all day tomorrow – Derby, NBA playoffs and right into the boxing match. Lots of themes all day tomorrow.
