Welcome to the second Sunday Shortcuts, where I share the small things that I do to make my life a little easier.
Summer produce is here!
Our fridge is full of blueberries, strawberries, mangos, grapes, and watermelon.
For so long I dreaded cutting a watermelon and always made a big ol’ mess. I finally think I have it down!
I’ve seen the videos going around in Facebook and, while I think the method of cutting the watermelon into pieces through the rind looks like it turns out nice and doesn’t leave a mess, I do think it looks a little difficult to get all those cuts.
I LOVE my way, and am happy to share!
First, I cut the ends of the watermelon so I can stand it up. I then cut down each side, going all the way around, until all the rind is off the watermelon.
Then I can lay it on it’s side and cut into rings and cubes from there.
So easy!
The only downside is that the juice still tends to get all over, but it goes very quick and we’re chowing down on watermelon in no time!
Do you cut your watermelon in a similar way?
What is your favorite summer fruit?
