Week 1 of reading Always Eat After 7 pm. Challenging all those common weight loss myths we hear such as “always eat breakfast” and “never eat after 7pm.” This book gives a whole new perspective and we’ll see how it goes!

Background
Let me take you back to the very beginning of 2013. I was a brand-new stay-at-home-mom who had just had her second child and had a 1-year-old running around. I was absolutely determined to do the absolute best I could. At the top of my priorities was getting healthy for them and setting a healthy example for them to follow as they grew.

At the time, I had just started this blog and a huge focus was being a healthy mom and raising healthy kiddos. I finally lost the baby weight (of both pregnancies) and was running regularly and exercising and eating healthy.
I was always striving for more (that’s another story) but I was proud of how I was raising my kiddos and hopefully stopping the negative body image and cycle I had had my whole life.
Fast-forward to present day.
The kids are in school now. I’m working from home – spending much more time on this site as well as fitting in a 15-20 hour a week job. Days are busy, family dinners are the bane of my existence, the kiddos are pickier and request more junk, and my will-power is worn down.
I’m not happy where things are at the moment…
I want to get back to feeling good about my health, feeling more energy and mobility, and knowing that my kids can look up to me and learn from my example.
Always Eat After 7pm
Recently I was introduced to this great book, Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion. It challenges all those myths that we have believed to be truth when it comes to weight loss.
Specifically, I am very interested in challenging the myth of eating at night. This has been something I have struggled with for life! So, if I find out it could all be a lie, and I can actually eat right and not turn my guilt over nighttime snacking into a downward spiral, it will be a game-changer!
I can 100% relate to Joel’s story of becoming busy with life, work, and family and letting yourself slowly pack on the pounds.
“My poor food choices took their toll on me mentally too. Every day when I looked at myself in the mirror, I was ashamed. My self-esteem was at an all-time low, and I felt guilty because I was letting my family down day after day after day. These were terrible feelings, to say the least. I’m so excited to dive further into this book and the recipes and plan to start breaking these rules and find a sustainable way to set that great example for my family!”
The main problem for me is setting strict rules and falling short. This leads to a “I’ll try again tomorrow” mentality and eating everyday like it’s my last meal.
No good!
About the book
Joel Marion’s Always Eat After 7PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of reasons for resistance.
After extensive research, Joel put his theory to the test and the results were amazing! He lost 12 pounds in the first 2 weeks and 46 pounds after 16 weeks. Yes, please!
A lot of the science behind his plan go against the common things we have been told over and over about healthy eating.
Wait and see…
I’ll be sharing my experience with you over the next 4 weeks. I can’t wait to see how it changes my mindset, energy level, and the example I set for my little ones!

I’m excited to hear more! I’m all about a moderation mindset and ditching those hard and fast rules too.
Thanks, Kristen! Only 3 day into the acceleration phases (which is obviously more strict than lifestyle) but I’m really feeling good about it! It will be the real test when I’m working with creating family meals again and giving myself permission to indulge every once in a while without going crazy!
I think debunking the myths is also my goal!
Absolutely! Isn’t it crazy the things we hear and hang onto without learning more!
This is a good post and although I have always been a advocate of the the ” don’t eat after 7pm rule”, this particular one makes sense and I cant wait to try it out.
I’m so glad it helped you reconsider!
