You don’t have to go to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration to take away some amazing information.
These are just some of things you can learn from Disney and the Disney SMMC without even attending.
Plus… I’ll let you know what I think is that special something that they look for when sending out the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration invites!
Whew! I got NOTHING done the week of the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration… or even the month surrounding the conference.
I was following everything on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. I can’t even tell you how many IG stories I watched that week!
Even after DisneySMMC was over, I was on the lookout for posts and videos just to soak it all in.
I totally blame the entire Disney Social Media Moms Celebration and all attendees for my lack of productivity in February/March!
Disney Social Media Moms Celebration
If you don’t know about the Disney Social Moms Media Celebration, it’s an amazing invite-only conference for bloggers and social media influencers.
I can tell you, I have no idea how to get that magical invite.
I have been watching the annual Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, and the on the road events, for years.
They are amazing!
But there is no application and no way to guarantee an invite. Regardless of you number of followers, topics you focus on, or if you even blog about Disney, the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration invitations are excuslive and the selection process is a bit of a mystery.
So, a Disney Social Media Moms Celebration invite may never happen for me or you…
…but that doesn’t mean we can’t totally enjoy it from home!
What you can learn from Disney Social Media Moms Celebration from home?
As I said, I have been following the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration for years. I also follow along with all the posts from those who have attending the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration On the Road.
Besides seeing all the amazing Disney tips and scoops, and the incredible experiences of those at Walt Disney World on on the Disney Cruise… you can learn so much about blogging, social media, storytelling, and life!
Here are just a few of the takeaways I picked up on from home.
Disney people are the best people
I have met so many wonderful people from following the #DisneySMMC hashtag.
Not even just from following the #DisneySMMC hashtag, but for years now.
Disney people are the best people.
If you want to follow people who will inspire you, make you smile, and just be genuinely nice, you can’t do better than Disney fans.
Following the posts from this group, gives you such a happy feeling which is why it’s so hard to stop following all the action.
Plus, they’re just so darn nice and genuinely excited for one another. It’s such a great feeling just talking to them and reading their posts.
Get in front of the camera
This was one of the biggest take-aways for me. It wasn’t even something that was mentioned in the conferences or by any of the attendees.
However….
What I noticed was all the photos and videos of happy families all spending time together. Moms were in on the action and in front of the camera as often as they were behind.
This is something I almost never do, and it made me think about the memories the kiddos and I will have to look back on.
Where is Mom in all those photos?
Don’t capture those memories without you in them, Mom!
Tell a Story
Disney knows a little something about telling a story.
It’s no surprise that the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration attendees got some gems and excellent advice for telling a good story.
Oh to have been in the room to get storytelling advice from the Disney team!!
I’d have to say, even though no one knows the special ingredient to getting a DIsneySMMC invite, I’m willing to bet that may be the one.
This is going to be one of the things I’m going to work on for sure. I love sharing here and there, but I’m going to focus even more on storytelling whether it’s here in every post or on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
If you want people to want to hear from you, you have to draw them in with a good story.
Share it all – good and bad
It doesn’t make you a Debbie Downer to share the the not-so-good along with the good.
It makes you more relatable.
We all know the feeling when we follow people who seem soooo perfect and always have it together.
It’s not realistic. And no one will get to know you if you sugar coat everything and put on a show. That storytelling we were talking about is only going to come across as authentic and true if you are.
Disney does it better
After a Disney vacation, Disney film, or Disney Social Moms Media Celebration one thing is certain…
Disney just does it better than anyone else.
There is so much to learn from all areas of the Walt Disney legacy.
How to add that something special to everything you do and go above and beyond.
Disney knows how to connect with people, entertain all ages, and leave everyone with something to remember. It’s the little touches that Disney does better than anyone else.
There is so much to learn from Disney that I can’t even imagine how overwhelming all the amazing information of Disney Social Media Moms Celebration would be.
