Does anyone else have a little lady who literally dances around the house all day? We do! She has always been twirling, dancing, and tumbling since she could walk. So, from an early age, we got our Little Lady into dance.
It is the sweetest thing seeing all those little girls in their matching blue leotards, pink tights, and ballet slippers. However, as we entered the winter months in Minnesota, we knew a little more warmth was needed.
Girls Leg Warmers
Girls Leg Warmers are surprisingly hard to find! Very quickly all of us moms were asking each other where to find them. Often, if we did find one or two at Target or Wal-Mart, they were still a little too big for our preschoolers.
So, it was time for a better solution. Enter, the Dollar Tree!
As I was roaming around the Dollar Tree, I found their fun, printed knee-high socks. They come in all sorts of colors and patterns. Plus, it’s only a dollar so I knew I wouldn’t be out much if it didn’t work out.
DIY Girls Leg Warmers
I have to be honest and admit, that I put the task on my mother-in-law. I was a little nervous about how the knit sock would fray or if a special stitch was needed for stretch. However, she had them back the next day and she was able to cut at the ankle and just use a regular stitch and they were done.
Nothing to it!
Little Lady then had three – very fun – legwarmers for her dance class.
She is now in kindergarten and has switched to gymnastics, but just last week she was wearing a pair of these leg warmers for crazy sock day at school.
So, I can report that they still fit, the bottom stitch has held up fine, and she still likes to wear them today.
This rainbow tutu is amazing! She’s had it for years and it’s held up great, plus it’s just so fun!
One of my favorite Dollar Tree tips is that you can order items online in bulk. They ship to you or free to the store. I do this often with our favorite liquid soap refills. For these socks, you can get a case of 36. This would be great if they are all different, but it may be that you get a case of the same six styles.
Regardless, what a perfect party favor for a birthday party! Or they would be a great gift for a dance class. All for just a dollar a piece. They’ll love it!
