No matter how many times we’ve been to Walt Disney World and the Magic Kingdom, there is always something new to discover. Our Magic Kingdom 2019 experience was no different!
We had the best trip to Walt Disney World in 2019! Even though our kids have been to Walt Disney World six times since they were babies, we always find something new. This trip was full of firsts for us. One place that stays familiar, yet we always find something new is the Magic Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom 2019 was no different!

Magic Kingdom 2019 highlights
We have taken the kiddos to the Magic Kingdom since they were toddlers. No matter how many times we’ve been there, we always have a different experiences. Our Magic Kingdom 2019 trip was special because it was just the four of us. We have always traveled to Disney with grandparents, and we LOVE it! However, this trip felt a little special because it was just my husband, myself, and the kids.
We let the kids have more of the lead on our Magic Kingdom 2019 visit. They’re now 6 and 7 and they have been to Disney enough to have their own favorites. They’re also tall enough for nearly every ride, and they love them.
The kids were able to ride Space Mountain and Big Thunder Railroad this trip. They were also old enough to sit through the Hall of Presidents, and appreciate it since they are interested in history right now. We all had our first meal at Pecos Bill. Also – and this is a big one – Magic Kingdom 2019 was our first trip without strollers!

Our Day at the Magic Kingdom 2019!
It’s not a Disney World trip without the Magic Kingdom. It’s my happy place! I worked in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland during my college program, and it’s the park I know like the back of my hand.
Even though it is the park I feel the most at home at, the Magic Kingdom 2019 still held some new experiences for us!

We tried for rope drop…
After our late night at Hollywood Studios the night before, I had a heck of a time getting everyone up and out the door for rope drop. We got there just as the show was wrapping up. So, not as early as I would have likes, but not too bad either.
The kids wanted to try getting on Space Mountain rather than our usual plan – which works out much better! Space Mountain and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train both filled up so fast that we decided just to take it easy and head to our favorites.
Winnie the Pooh is never too busy and they kids were anxious to get on any ride at all, so we got right in line. Small World is a classic and also never has much of a line. We always love to hit that one first. Next, we walked over pass Haunted Mansion. We had fastpasses for this later, but the line was so short we took advantage of it and got on quickly.
This is part of the reason we don’t typically do fastpasses. We love to keep things spontaneous and just go with the flow. We don’t have to do it all. In fact, we have a much better time when we just take our time and not stress over plans. I spent a lot of the morning worrying over these fastpasses and eventually just stopped looking at them!

We did still have fastpasses for Pirates of the Caribbean at 11, so we headed that way. We had plenty of time to hit the Jungle Cruise first – always a classic. It was over just in time to head to Pirates. I will admit, it is very nice to get in that fastpass lane, though. We breezed right through the que for Pirates and were on the ride without a wait.
Lunch break at Pecos Bill
After Pirates, we were all ready for lunch. Normally, we pack food in our park bag and don’t stop to eat at restaurants. It saves a lot of time and money! However, this trip we had flown down and didn’t have the luxury of having groceries. We still packed our bag full of snacks, but we needed a place for lunch.

We grabbed lunch at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe because I had heard good things about the toppings bar. My husband loves nachos and is a big eater, so I knew we could get a pretty filling meal for a smaller price.
It was a good call!
The kids got cheeseburger kids meals, and they loved picking their toppings. Each kids meal comes with water bottles, cuties, and GoGo Squeeze apple sauce. Kids aren’t the only ones who can buy a kids meal. I got the kids meal rice bowl, and got all the same sides as the kids.
As I suspected, Hubby got nachos, and we all piled on the toppings! He and I practically made an entire salad on top of our food. It was such a filling meal. As a bonus, we were able to put the sides and waters away to pull out later when the kids wanted a snack.

Back to the rides!
Next we saw Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, and Philharmagic (another one of my favorites!). All of these shows offer a good place to get away from the crowd and heat. They’re perfect for the afternoon as things start to get crowded.
Right next to Philharmagic is Castle Couture. If you ask one of the Cast Members, you can get free pixie dust. We always stop in to have some put in Little Lady’s hair. You have to do it, it’s so cute! They even have a little thing they say about making a wish.
Our Little Guy was very much into Stitch this trip, so he was really the only character we stood in line for this time around. They had so much fun goofing off with him. While we were in Tomorrowland, everyone decided it was time for a Mickey Ice Cream Bar. It’s a must, right?
One quick ride on the Little Mermaid, and we headed back down Main Street. We made a quick stop to get our absolute favorite Disney souvenir – the silhouettes. I have some from my Disney visits as a kid, and we have gotten them every year for our kiddos. I absolutely love them! We like to get them done at the Magic Kingdom because we used to get them at Disney Springs and the guy was pretty rude. From what I hear, they are now done by Disney cast members, and not an outside company, so we may try to get them there again.
Time for a break from the crowds!
For us, it’s a total must for a stress-free park day at the Magic Kingdom or any Disney parks. What a difference it makes!
When we returned from that quick hour of swimming at our resort, the temperatures and the crowds were lower. It felt great! We felt so refreshed and ready for another start.
Tomorrowland
Little Guy has a friend whose favorite ride is the People Mover. Can you believe with all my time in Disney, this was my first time on it!? We got to see the lights of the park from the People Mover and I never realized it goes through some of the other rides.
Next was another must-do, the Carousel of Progress. I just love this ride! This is another one that would have been nice to do during the crowded time and heat of midday. It goes quickly so there’s almost never a wait.
We came out right during the fireworks. This made it a perfect time to hop on Space Mountain at a 1/3 of the wait the rest of the day showed. At this point, it was after 8, so they started scanning bands for Extra Magic Hours. I always wondered how they knew who the resort guests were…
Fantasyland
The kids and Hubby rode the teacups themselves because I was still feeling a little queasy from Space Mountain. Our plan was to book it over to Big Thunder Mountain because the wait was so short, but we were running out of time and didn’t want to go that far.

Fitting it all in
We were able to take another quick ride on Haunted Mansion before going back and seeing a 40 minute wait for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We knew it would eat a lot of the precious time we had left, but it was much better than earlier in the day. This ride is also fantastic at night!
After Mine Train, we made a mad dash to another of our favorites – Buzz Lightyear. We were so happy to fit it in for our last ride of the night. What a busy day!
Goodbye Magic Kingdom 2019!
As we took the bus back, Little Lady fell asleep sprawled across my lap. It is even a trip to Disney if you don’t carry sleeping kids off the bus?
