We have been watching all the announcements for the upcoming Dumbo live action. As much as I LOVE all these live-action Disney movies, Dumbo is one I’m torn about. It looks amazing! However, Dumbo is one of the Disney movies I haven’t seen too many times – just like Bambi. I can’t stand to cry!

The new Dumbo looks so sweet. However, I nearly cry every time I see his mother drive away in the previews! Do you cry during Dumbo?

Regardless, I’m always excited about a new Disney movie. The kids and I just eat up each new trailer that comes out and we get really anxious for them.

We love to celebrate each new movie with a treat or a craft. For Christoper Robin we made felt earrings. Our Halloween class treats were color-changing bracelets inspired by Coco. We also made Spoonful of Sugar Cookies for Mary Poppins Returns and a Frozone Float for Incredibles 2.

So, just to celebrate and get excited for the release of Dumbo, we decided to make Dumbo’s Circus Popcorn and Peanuts!

Dumbo's Circus Popcorn and Peanuts Snack - salty, sweet, and super easy!

Party Popcorn

This idea came from an amazing treat my cousin made for Easter a couple years ago. I absolutely love the idea, and that she changes up the colors and candies to make it for different holidays.

I swear when I was asking her how she made the popcorn mix she said she uses the pouches of colored icing. My mom thought it was more like candy melts… In the end we found almond bark to be delicious! It’s easy to experiment and try different combinations.

The main things you need are 1) popcorn, 2) your choice of frosting, candy melts, or almond bark 3) candies. As long as you cover those things, the possibilities are endless!

It’s so easy!

This is such a simple treat, and it’s so cute! I’m totally planning a circus or carnival party in my head right now so I have another excuse to make it.

For our mix we used plain popped popcorn, light blue almond bark for Dumbo, red and yellow peanut M&Ms for Dumbo’s hat and collar, and honey roasted peanuts and sprinkles.

I’m not 100% sure on the looks, but I also think it would be cute to add shoestring potato chips to kind of resemble the circus hay.

It’s so easy to make this mix! First, spread the popcorn in a thin layer across a sheet pan. Next, sprinkle your candy and peanuts over the top. Melt two blocks of white almond bark and stir in two drops of blue food coloring. Drizzle over the top, and add sprinkles. We had some yellow sugar sprinkles, and some red, white, and blue sprinkles. Let everything harden and then break up and transfer to your bowl. It looks adorable in a classic popcorn bucket.

There is no better sheet pan than this one! I’m obsessed with them!
