The beginning of a new year usually has many of us looking to make a fresh start. We’re ready to recommit to goals – live healthier, get organized, save money, make professional changes…
I love to plan and create goals in the new year! It may be cliche but it’s a time that encourages you to dream big, and that’s never a bad thing.
Healthier New Year
Along with getting more organized and meeting some professional milestones, my biggest focus in the new year is always to live healthier.
This time of year always feels like a great time to do some meal planning and find new healthy recipes for the family, look for healthier substitutes for foods I can’t seem to avoid, and create a new fitness plan to start the new year off on the right foot.

Greek Gods Greek Yogurt at Walmart
This year, I’m already off to a great start because I found Greek Gods Greek Yogurt at Walmart while picking up all the great holiday clearance deals.
Do you do the holiday clearance thing? I can’t resist stocking up on wrapping paper and other decor I wait out an entire holiday season for. I also grab treats to save for Valentine’s Day and gift sets of things we’ll buy throughout the year anyway.
But I digress…
I’ve never been a Greek Yogurt fan. I know how great it is. I see it on every healthier snack list, and I’ve found some amazing Greek Yogurt recipes. However, I’ve never been a big fan of the tang.
Hooray! Greek Gods Greek Yogurt has the tagline, “all taste no tang.” It delivers too!
I grabbed two cartons of Greek Gods Greek Yogurt from the Walmart dairy section. The Strawberry flavor is for snacking. My son and I have already been fighting each other over who gets the last bowl! The plain Greek yogurt is for all those recipes I’ve been pinning.

Healthier alternatives to our favorite foods
Now that the holidays are over, I’ve already begun filling my Pinterest boards with healthy living inspiration for a healthier new year.
One of the biggest struggles after the holidays is coming down off all those delicious treats that seem to begin at Halloween and not end until December.
I’m a chocolate addict. It is something that is so hard to avoid!

Greek Yogurt Brownies for a healthier new year
Better chocolate choices are something I’m always on the lookout for. So, when I found out you can make brownies with a brownie mix, some water, and Greek yogurt, I had to give it a try!
Greek Gods Greek Yogurt makes some tasty brownies!
We tried out these brownies at the cabin and they were a hit! Grandparents, kids, and a husband picky about “health food” or substitutions. Greek Yogurt Brownies passed the test for them all.
The only difference is a slight texture variation. They almost have a bit of a gooey pudding-like consistency to the bottom or center of the brownies. This is why I recommend making sure to check with a toothpick and wait for it to come out clean. However, if you love a softer brownie, you’ll love this!
The brownie mix we used includes chocolate chunks, so I wouldn’t say this is a “health food.” It still has all the sugar of a normal mix. An even better choice may be finding a sugar free brownie mix.
Either way, substituting the Greek Gods Greek Yogurt does cut out the extra oil and pack in a little more protein. Therefore, it’s a healthier choice for a healthier new year.
If you cut them up small, you have a wonderful way to satisfy your sweet tooth without missing out.

Perfect for a healthier New Year!
In addition to focusing on healthier food choices and snacks and getting creative with the food I can’t resists, my list for healthier new year changes is long.
For example, more sleep, waking earlier to exercise, more meal planning and prepping, and more activity as a family. It’s all on the list and I’m looking forward to a happier and healthier new year!
