India’s Mom Life

Tell us about your family

We are a family of 5 in the suburbs of Chicago. We love to be active, my kids are in many activities which keep us busy! We love to be goofy and play around. Our weekend tradition is cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

As a mom, what is the best part of your day?

During the day can be very hectic. I love coming together at night and talking about our days. We also pray together every night.

3 Words that describe your parenting style?

Organized, relaxed, patient.

That was hard because most of the time I am these things but let’s be honest I can also be a hot mess!

What is a parenting rule you never break?

Having a strict bed time. By the end of the day we are all tired! I need my time to get things done alone and to spend one on one with my husband.

What is a parenting rule you always break?

No dessert unless they eat veggies – I try my best but I am not willing to fight forever!

How do you prioritize family-time and me-time?

I am still working on this. I try to remind myself that it is very important for me to have my own time in order to be the best mom. Never taking a break doesn’t necessarily make you better. You have to be yourself as well and decompress from the constant needs of others.

I am a stay at home mom so I don’t have a daily escape to a job. I try to make time with friends through coffee dates, date nights with my husband as well as spending time getting my eyebrows done ect. the little things make all the difference.

What is your go-to, easy weeknight meal?

Chicken pot pie or crescent hot dogs (Whatever gets the job done!)

What is your favorite family activity?

Our kids are such different stages (ages 7, 3, and 1) one of the few things we can all truly enjoy together is the park.

What advice would you give new moms?

No one knows what they’re doing, we are all just trying our best. Snuggle that little baby as much as you can because they will be running away from you before you know it. Also, it is so important to surround yourself with other moms who get what you’re going through. Motherhood is a huge life transition and you need that community.

Do you have a “Mom Hack” you can’t live without?

Having endless snacks. Always have many snacks anywhere you go!

How do you balance work and home life?

I am a stay at home mom. I currently blog occasionally and I love it! I have to fit it in between naps and bedtime.

What is your best Mom money-saving tip?

Meal planning and shopping my pantry first. I have found if I have a set list of items for the store then I spend way less!

Do you have any tips for staying on top of household chores?

Doing a little bit all day helps. I try to pick up clothes as I see them. Doing at least one load of laundry a day. I am also trying to include my kids more for help. I almost always clean up dinner and the kitchen before bed.

Do you make a point to stay healthy and fit? If so, how do you fit it into your busy lifestyle?

I love eating healthy and staying active. I also love eating out and having sweets! I believe it’s all about balance. I make it a point to have a home made healthy breakfast and lunch for myself and my kids. This way when we are super busy at the end of the day or weekends I don’t feel as guilty because I know we did good before. I attend a mom stroller workout group. I have been loving working out with other moms that understand the craziness!  I also use YouTube videos to workout at home especially for yoga.

Family Travel: What is your favorite spot or family travel memory?

We love visiting the Wisconsin Dells.

Do you have a can’t-live-without Mom/family products to share?

I would say anything that makes life easier. I absolutely loved my baby wraps (Wildbird ring sling and Solly Baby wrap) they allowed me to bond with my baby while being able to get things done. My diaper bag that is a backpack makes the day to day running around better!
