Bunny Ear Hair Ties
Ever since Little Lady’s Bunny Birthday Party back in October, I have been in love with these bunny ear hair ties I’ve been seeing. I found a bunch on Amazon, but have been hoping to make them myself. Now that Easter is around the corner, I have been seeing them everywhere!
Scrunchies are back, and scrunchies with these little bunny ear ties are the most adorable, if you ask me. It’s totally worth buying some of these adorable bunny ear scrunchies, but it’s also fun to make an easy and free DIY too!

No Sew Bunny Ear Hair Ties
Part of the reason I’ve been putting off this project for so long is because I haven’t felt like sewing for, literally, years! My sewing machine hasn’t come out in a very long time… However, once again, I figured out a way around that!
As with a lot of our projects, creativity really strikes when I have a project I’m dying to try but want to make it as easy as possible.
I spied the pack of felt from our DIY Felt Earrings and wondered if that would be enough to keep the ears standing… Then, I wondered if I could get away with just a stitch or two to attach them to the band… And, then, I realized how to make the whole project no-sew and even easier!

Felt Bunny Ears
I am very happy to report that felt is perfect for this project! As long as the ears aren’t made too long, they will stay standing straight up in the air. My daughter wore her bunny ear hair tie for five hours – and a lot of outdoor play – after school yesterday.
As I mentioned, I used this pack of felt that I bought for another project. I chose the colors with a bit stiffer felt so they’d be less likely to flop. With both the 2 inch and 3 inch ears, they stayed standing and look great!
The genius of it all
After folding the felt in half and cutting two ears simultaneously, connected at the bottom, they need to be attached to the hair tie. In addition to larger hair ties, we also keep around some of the small, colorful elastics. Once you fold the ears over the larger elastic and spread them apart to make two ears, secure the small elastic just at the base of the felt ears.
That’s it! Match up your regular hair tie, colored felt, and small elastic and you have your own bunny ear hair ties!
Bunny Ear Hair Ties
Materials
Instructions
- Fold colored felt in half and cut 2-3 inch ear shape, leaving the two connected at the fold. It will look a bit like a bow tie.
- Fold felt ears over the hair tie and spread apart a bit to separate the ears
- Secure with a small elastic band at the base of the ears, right above the hair tie. *It helps to twist the elastic over the hair tie rather than around the ears.*
Our little bunny-obsessed lady is asking for these in every color. Just last night before bed she placed a blue pony on my nightstand and said it was in case I had time to do a blue one tomorrow. So, I guess they’re a hit!
These are so cute!
thank you so much!
