Whenever there is a holiday countdown, I love to gather the kids and incorporate kindness. These times are perfect for being intentional and helping our kids realize the real meaning of the season and thinking outside themselves.
We currently have a gorgeous Christmas advent calendar. We like to keep it pretty simple with Christmas treats, but in the past we have added and shared examples of treats/gifts, kindness, and Christmas activities.
For the first time this year we also incorporated kindness into a Lent countdown for Easter. We shared a similar display and included ideas for kindness and services along with prayer and Lent activities.
This time, we have a Christmas Kindness Calendar with a list of 25 ideas for different Christmas kindness activities. Such a perfect way to help your kiddos and family keep others in mind this holiday season!

12 Days or 25 Days?
I know, I know… The 12 days of Christmas refers to the days from Christmas Day to the New Year…
You can decide if you want to a full 25 day advent calendar or 12 days before or after Christmas. It’s your house, your Christmas kindness, and you can do whatever will work best for your family.
For instance, I decided on a 12 day Christmas Kindness Calendar because it seems a little more doable for our family during the busy holiday season.
As I mentioned before, we filled a calendar with 40 days of Lent activities for each day leading up to Easter. However, life gets busy and it can be hard to fit things in that day – especially with kids in school.
Don’t worry! If you’re looking to fill up all 25 days of your Christmas Kindness Advent Calendar, we have a list at the end that will have you covered!
Putting together your Christmas Kindness Calendar
If you saw our display for our Lent activities at Easter time, you’ll notice we used the same general idea. In fact, I used the same display.
Instead of colorful organza bags – which would be cute in Christmas colors – I wanted to clip little pieces of paper.
This Christmas Kindness Calendar is using the same twine and branch hanger (which you can find directions for here) with the addition of some red and green string hanging below the branches.

Pins
It is so quick and easy to add some festive clothes pins with red and green Bandle B. masking tape. We love this stuff for EVERYTHING. I’ll tell you why you need some in a minute!
Using the red and green tape, place a piece on each clothespin and trim the access with an exacto knife or razor blade. Tip: Place line up one long edge first so you only have to trip one side and the ends. It took me until the 10th pin to realize that!
Kindness Cards
For the kindness cards, I use a regular piece of computer paper. You can use something thicker if you’re worried about the words showing through.
To get exactly 12 cards out of one sheet of paper just cut or fold in three equal parts lengthwise and four equal parts from there.
I use the folding and tearing technique because they don’t have to be perfect if you’re just going to burn them anyway. The burned edges give the paper such a great look.
I use a regular jar candle, right by the sink, and carefully let the paper touch the flame and then blow it out.

Kindness Banner
In addition to the clothespins, you can make a festive garland out of the green and red tape very easily.
For the word “kindness” – which is fitting for our Christmas Kindness Calendar – fold 8 pieces of alternating colored tape over the red and green string. Cut them into triangles and write the word “kindness” with a black permanent marker.
You could also write “Merry Christmas” or even your children’s names.
Bandle B. Colored Masking Tape
This project isn’t the only use we have for colored masking tape. We use this stuff all the time!
Just in this past week, I have used this tape to mark a DIY project on the wall, to label the children’s snacks, and to secure a Christmas package with red and green tape. The little “box” up above is actually a toilet paper roll covered in red and green tape!
In addition, this colorful tape is perfect for kids! You wouldn’t believe how it can stretch their imagination!
Tip: Give the kids some fun and allow them to decorate their own Christmas tree on the wall with this colorful tape.
Last year at this time, the kids used colored tape to create a Christmas tree and presents on the wall. It worked perfectly for us but, of course, use with caution because I don’t want to be responsible for wrecked walls!
This tape comes in beautiful colors, tears easily, and managed to stick securely but also remove easily without leaving a sticky residue!
Bandle B. Set includes:
• 6 rolls of high-quality crepe masking tape
• Colors include red, blue, green, yellow, orange, and pink
• Each roll contains 1 in x 60 yards of colorful masking tape (25.4 mm x 54.86m)
• Inner core size: 3 in.
