We love thinking outside the box for class gifts and Valentines. Our school doesn’t allow snacks or treats. So, we need to think of something that the kids will enjoy and not everyone is doing.

You guys, I got three fish puns in here! That’s right – overachiever.

Non-edible Valentines

Even before we weren’t allowed to do edible valentines, we started out in preschool with these Valentine pencils. After years of Valentines, birthday, and Halloween gifts, we have to get more and more creative.

Other class gifts we have loved are some of our Halloween gifts. They can totally work for Valentines and birthdays too! Especially, the Cat’s Cradle Cats and Coco Inspired Color-changing bracelets.

The kids’ favorite Valentines before this year have been our Airplane Valentines, for sure! They are so cute and it’s something so fun for the kiddos to receive. We got our airplanes on Amazon, but I actually saw a pack at the Dollar Tree the other day!

Fish Valentines

I’m so embarrassingly proud of these little Fish Valentines! I mean, I managed to get no one, but three fish puns in this cute little Valentine poem!

All you dads with dad jokes, step aside!

There are a couple ways you can do this.

If you print these valentines on card stock, you can tape your own fish toy right in the center over the little fish picture.

However, I love the idea of putting the fish in a plastic baggie and blowing some air into it. It looks just like a little fish from the pet store!

I used the small plastic bags with the fold-over top, because they were on sale at Target over a year ago and I still have about four boxes! You can also get the small bags on amazon or at the Dollar Tree and they will be perfect!

For our Fish Valentines we used some of the grow fish from the Dollar Tree. The problem with these is that only one pack was fish-related. However, you can find a whole bunch of them on Amazon for a great price!

I’m going to be honest, the second option is probably the best one. While they have no fish taste, the flavor doesn’t appeal to our kiddos. We do like the “fruit” flavor of the smaller jar better than any of the trio flavors in the large jar. Either way, it’s easy enough to get through that burst to the sweater flavor of the fish gummy. It’s definitely easy enough to get used to for the benefits.
